The Office of the Ombudsman is required by statute to investigate and respond to citizens’ concerns arising from the administration of provincial and municipal laws within Nova Scotia. The Office may also initiate own motion investigations, review systemic issues, and investigate matters referred by a Committee of the House.
Under the Public Interest Disclosure of Wrongdoing Act, the Ombudsman is granted authority to investigate claims brought forward by provincial public servants and the public regarding allegations of wrongdoing in the public service.
