About the Office

The Nova Scotia Office of the Ombudsman was established in 1971. The Ombudsman is an independent Officer of the Legislature. The Office provides an independent avenue to investigate complaints involving provincial and municipal governing bodies. It offers specialized services for youth and seniors. It is also has responsibilities under the Public Interest Disclosure of Wrongdoing Act (PIDWA). The Office of the Ombudsman is structured into four service areas.
