Investigation & Complaint Services
Investigation and Complaint Services independently reviews and investigates public concerns about services provided by provincial and municipal government organizations.
Concerns brought forward may be complex and sensitive, requiring a formal investigation which generally focuses on individual complaint resolution, and improvements to policies and procedures. Own Motions and policy reviews address systemic concerns and may be initiated when this Office notices a pattern of complaints developing in a specific area.
Some concerns that we can investigate in relation to provincial and municipal government services include:
- the manner in which programs and services are delivered
- fairness and accountability issues
- licenses and permits
- treatment of inmates
Investigation & Complaint Services also assists government bodies by reviewing policies and proposed revisions to legislation and regulations.
